Programs​

At Kids On The Go, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive and inclusive environment where children with special needs can thrive. Our diverse program offerings go beyond traditional therapy, integrating physical, occupational, and speech therapy goals into engaging and fun activities that foster development, build confidence, and promote independence.

Adaptive Dance

Does your child enjoy movement and music? Have you always wanted them to take a dance class but was not sure what class was right for them? ADAPTIVE DANCE IS THE CLASS FOR THEM!

This session will start in January and end in June with a recital! The Winter/Spring session will follow the Mack Ave Dance Studio Calendar.

Youth Boxing

Led by our Coach Taiwan Jones of the Transformation Lab, campers are introduced to boxing through different activities that promote fitness, important self defense techniques, offer social opportunities, and increase confidence and overall well being. This is a six week course for participants ages 8-17.

Cooking Adventures

Young chefs ages 8-12 will enjoy a six-week sensory journey exploring the joys of cooking. Campers will be introduced to local and seasonal foods. Children will be encouraged to try new foods and explore new textures while learning positive table time behaviors.

Empowered Too! with Open Spot Theatre

KOTG and Open Spot Theatre are excited to bring you our Empowered Too! Class. Join us for six weeks of empowerment, friendship, and fun! Campers will learn to sing, dance, and act leading up to a showcase for family and friends on the final class day. A show that they will star in and write! This session is for both boys and girls focusing on building confidence, self esteem and empowerment. 

Teens to Work

Prepares teens for employment opportunities and develops career readiness skills. Class sessions include topics in communication, financial literacy, improved social behaviors, safety, and organization skills as well as time management. Participants also learn valuable skills creating and selling products in the KOTG Store.

Adaptive Dance

Our winter/spring session is currently closed for enrollment due to this being a recital year for the dance studio all enrollment was completed during the winter session.

Adaptive Yoga

In this class we will be learning about the basic practice of yoga and its benefits. We will be exploring stability through modified poses, improving focus and relaxation through breathing exercises, improving flexibility and range of motion with the gentle stretching the various yoga poses will create, modifying to each camper’s abilities.

Buildup Robotics

In this class we will be promoting hands-on play and STEAM education through creating, building and constructing with Lego. Sessions will include hands-on projects to engage creative and out of the box thinking. Each week we will build a new robot and learn how and why it works.

AAC & Me

This class is designed for students who are currently using an AAC device to assist with communication. It is a chance to grow in their communication skills through engaging, child-led activities. Parents who want to work on their understanding of AAC and modeling skills are encouraged to attend with their child.

Adaptive Bowling

In Adaptive Bowling campers will learn basic skills and the fundamentals of bowling. Some of these skills include spare shooting, proper release techniques, and learning to bowl for score. The objective of the program is for campers to gain an understanding of bowling, to have fun and develop self confidence.

All Star Flag Football

Touchdown! Participants will learn basic skills and fundamentals of football. These skills include proper technique for passing and catching as well as drills to enhance coordination and athletic ability. The objective of the program is for students to gain understanding of football concepts and develop self-confidence and teamwork skills.

All Star Hoops 1

This camp will teach the fundamentals of basketball; ball-handling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.

This camp will teach the fundamentals of basketball; ball-handling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.

Better Letters and Multisensory Art Rochester

Better Letters Rochester is a program that offers a creative, multisensory approach to help children master the skills of handwriting. Small group classes and individual therapy are provided.

 

Multisensory art is paired perfectly with our Better Letters Rochester session. It is a camp where your child will explore the senses through activities that help regulate their responses to touch, taste, smell, and proprioception. This class will be a fun and interactive session consisting of art media and hands-on experiences through play.

 

These camps will be scheduled back-to-back to give parents more respite time.

Better Letters St. Clair Shores

This camp offers a creative, multisensory approach to help children master the skills of handwriting. Small group classes and individual therapy provided.

Bike Riding - Try

“Try” Cycle Camp (ages 4-7) is for campers who are not able to ride a tricycle or 2 wheel bike with training wheels.

Bike Riding- Ready to Ride

“Ready to Ride” (ages 6-8) is for campers who are able to ride a two wheel bike with training wheels and are ready to move to independent riding.

Bucket Drumming

A new and fun way to create music and melodies with the benefits of moving and research shows a link between rhythmic proficiency and language skills. Drumming is also being used as a way to improve emotional, motor, and cognitive development in children with special needs and may even help increase focus in students with ADD and ADHD.

Empowered Too!

Empowered Too! Is a camp that encourages and teaches girls with special needs, ages 11-17, and their caregivers, empowerment by giving them valuable learning tools, resources, and connections.

Empowering girls starts with education! Making sure they have access to the right tools, materials, and mentors can have an enormous impact. We want to ensure that young ladies have the tools and knowledge to help them lead their best lives. Empowered Too! focuses on promoting self-identity and understanding, as well as building confidence in our shared journey. Caregivers are highly encouraged to attend each lesson so that the conversation can be continued at home.

Empowered Too! Will have classes in Yoga, Mindfulness, Strength Training and Conditioning, Proper food and nutrition, Goal Setting, and the transition of Puberty. KOTG Staff, as well as Guest Speakers, will be providing each class with the knowledge and tools to empower the girls for their future.

Exploring Foods with Friends (Session 1)

Please join us for a course designed by a Registered Dietitian and Occupational Therapist to improve food acceptance in children aged 3-5 years old. Caregivers will learn about topics such as: why children may be picky eaters, how to set expectations and schedules, ways to offer new foods, how to reduce stress surrounding feeding, creating positive table time behaviors and much more. This hands-on course will be informative, nutritional and fun for both kiddo and caregiver.

Exploring Foods with Friends (Session 2)

Please join us for a course designed by a Registered Dietitian and Occupational Therapist to improve food acceptance in children aged 5-7 years old. Caregivers will learn about topics such as: why children may be picky eaters, how to set expectations and schedules, ways to offer new foods, how to reduce stress surrounding feeding, creating positive table time behaviors and much more. This hands-on course will be informative, nutritional and fun for both kiddo and caregiver.

Friendship Cheer

Let’s Go! Fire up and learn a basic cheer, jumps and stunts! Friendship cheer will incorporate stretching, strengthening and coordination exercises while learning a routine. Our cheer squad will cheer on our Flag Football team the last week of camp.

Going Social

This social skills group will utilize video and role playing to explore expected and unexpected behaviors, figurative language, body language, and identifying problems and solving them.

Independent Living

Independent Living Skills (ILS) is a camp that will cover fundamental skills like: safety in the home, meal-preparation, use of household appliances, common household chores, utilizing online resources to your advantage, etc.

KLUB 16+ powered by SPARC

A social skills group developed specifically for our teens and young adults ages 16+. This group provides a safe environment for teaching and promoting positive social behaviors and interactions.

KOTG Golf Academy

Kids on the Go is “teeing” up with First Tee Golf and Chandler Park Golf Club for a summer adaptive golf program. The program will provide golf instruction using the SNAG equipment and will end the program with a 2-3 hole scramble.

KOTG Golf Academy-Veteran Golf

This 2 Hole League was designed for our Learn to Golf Graduates. This course will expand the golfer’s knowledge of golf etiquette, golf rules, and use of different clubs on the course.

Letters Together

A small group session for pre-handwriting skills that includes both the camper and the caregiver/parent. This “hands on” class will use a multisensory approach and provide unique opportunity for carryover at home.

Little Sluggers

Introduction to baseball by: Developing the skills of throwing and catching a ball. Swinging at a ball off a tee or by pitch. Discover the concepts of base running, fielding, and positions, and playing a game.

Multidisciplinary Camp

A pediatric therapy program designed to provide children with special needs with physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Weekly themes are incorporated to make this camp program fun and therapeutic! Children must be receiving at least two therapies and have an IEP.

Children will dance and sing with peers, take turns playing instruments, work on singing all kinds of words and sounds, sing songs about letters, numbers, colors, read and sing through books, and learn to watch and listen to therapist for sung directions and musical cues.

Pickleball

Children will learn the building blocks of pickleball taught through fun and engaging games. Players will learn the basics and how to keep score during a game.

Social Skills Group

The goal of our Social Skills group is to increase functional social skills that your child can use in everyday social settings. Our group will focus on reinforcing positive behaviors such as following instructions and routines.

Summer Sounds

This speech therapy based program will consist of sound production and formation, practice through a story and/or game, and a game or activity will be provided for carryover and home practice.

All Star Kicks Karate

Taught by Master Mike Fuller in this class campers will be given an introduction to martial arts. Through repetition KOTG Martial Arts helps to teach your camper self confidence, discipline, self control, respect and self defense.

Fall Fitness

Led by our Coach Taiwan Jones of the Transformation Lab, participants are introduced to circuit training through different activities that promote fitness, offer social opportunities, and increase confidence and overall well being. This course is for campers ages 8-17.
